Wharton Graduate Association
What is the role of the WGA? found at the Wharton website The Wharton Graduate Association (WGA) is the student government organization of the Wharton School's graduate program. Its membership is comprised of all first and second year MBA students at the Wharton School.
The WGA is the primary vehicle for coordinating and managing student activities and initiatives, both academic and extracurricular. In addition to student representation, the WGA provides monetary and logistical resources to over 100 different clubs and organizations on campus and is funded primarily through student dues. The WGA Web site is an independently managed site of the Wharton student body.

International Campaign for bursaries for international students. With fewer work permits for non-US students available, Wharton risks its international diversity if the school cannot offer more grants to students from other countries.
Expand upon WGA sponsored cultural events: To emphasize literature (e.g. book club), art, music, politics, and global events (e.g. Diwali, Mexican Independence Day, Chinese New Year, Burns night).
Alumni Create regional coordinator positions to facilitate communications between regional and international alumni offices and student body.
Strengthen alumni link to career-focused clubs to help alumni and students with career searches.
Establish a database providing resources and advice on working abroad.
Campaign for Alumni Fellows to assist the alumni office in improving alumni contacts.
Careers Create a set of student-run job skills workshops for students: working out a career path, creating a resume, networking, interviewing skills.
Connect executive recruiters with groups of students underserved by traditional campus recruiting efforts.
WGA Establish a committee to explore ways of reducing school ‘nickel-and-diming’ process.
Create coffee-sessions with administration and office-staff: create an interaction zone for faculty and students to interact.
Weekly WGA open-house and drop-box: Express your concerns to WGA members in MBA café.
Cohorts Introduce cohort homerooms: students have most classes in one room; professors move!
Establish cohort WGA liaison reps: responsible for coordinating cohort activities, representing cohort to WGA, encouraging/supporting reps, representing cohort to school at large, dealing with intra-cohort conflicts – making the cohort work better.
Establish a cohort prize for most active cohort (parties, sport, community, decorations in homeroom, club presidents).
Communication Increase communication with DGSAC to identify and prioritize key concerns.
List weekly Cohort and other events in the Wharton Journal - in school and across Penn.
Encourage listing of all meetings of all clubs on MySpike, and send out weekly list of activities similar to GAPSA mailing.

This site will discuss the topics we want our slate to focus on, allow the Wharton student body to ask us questions directly, and show an example of possible communication methods available to link our communities.
